Baked Ziti

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Ziti or Rigatoni pasta

  • 1 jar Lynora's Tomato and Basil tomato sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 white onion, diced

  • 1 pound Italian Sausage

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large skillet, heat up the olive oil. Add the onion and sauté for about five minutes or until soft. 

  4. Add the sausage, break up as it cooks. Stir and let cook for about 10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

  5. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet and cook for another minute.

  6. Pour the jar of Lynora's Tomato and Basil tomato sauce into the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 5-10 minutes and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ziti pasta with ½ of the meat sauce.

  8. In a baking dish, layer the tomato sauce, pasta, ricotta and mozzarella. Continue layering and finish with mozzarella. 

  9. Bake the ziti for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  10. Let the ziti cool for a few minutes before serving and enjoy!
